Previously on...
I had e-mailed two different offices of the same estate agency few days ago about two different properties. One responded and said they would never, ever, under any circumstances present any candidate with pets to a landlord. Company-wide.
Period.
Go away.
And now...
An agent from the other office got back to me yesterday afternoon to say the property was still available. I responded saying that I had since discovered the company's no-pets policy. I thanked him for following up, but said that because I had dogs, he would be unable to help me.
He got back to me this morning, sounding very confused. He said he wasn't sure where I got my info, but there was no such policy. He said that individual landlords may refuse pets, but that they'd never turn a candidate away without giving the landlord the option to decide. He said he'd be happy to assist in my search. He also said he had left a message with the owner of the specific property I had inquired about, asking whether she'd consider a tenant with pets.
Stay tuned next time...
When I will do the very British thing and write an angry letter...
